Some respondents saw in this a thinly disguised attack on proprietary software, the complimentary implication being that Open = efficient. I don't think that that is the case... ...at least not anymore. I think the perception arose from a situation where old, out of date software was being used.

So.

How can solution providers overcome this perception? Is it just down to them or is it something that we all need to be doing? And if we demand more efficient systems, how are they going to be paid for?
