We thought long and hard about the road map, it's vision and messages, and asked a lot of people what they thought should be included.

When we published the road map draft, some people who responded - when asked the question "Are the messages complete?" - thought that the messages were incomplete. However, no detail as to what was missing was forthcoming. It took us a long time to think about it, so it is perhaps not surprising that the missing messages could be articulated at the drop of a hat.

So the question here is, now that people, have had time to think, what's missing?

It has occurred to me (and more in connection with developing the Digital Curation Sustainability Model rather than the Roadmap - but there are close links between the two) that the role of INNOVATION and its disruptive influence has not really featured very prominently in the Roadmap.

There are some practical reasons why we couldn't deal with that concept very well and they are somewhat related to the nature of the 4C work being a Coordination action. i.e. grounded more in the 'practical' rather than in the realms of 'research'.

But digital curation is still an intriguing research problem. There is no getting away from the fact.

So here's a question ...

What disruptive, creative, brilliant themes of research could completely de-rail what is currently set out in the Roadmap?
